Three AP teachers at AMHS have now served or been selected as "Readers" (written test graders) at National AP Readings for their respective subjects. The careful evaluation of students’ work by Roger Brodniak (AP U.S. Government and Politics 2015-2023), Jon Echols (AP Computer Science 2020-2022), and Carolina Jaramillo (AP Computer Science 2024) is one of the most important aspects of the AP Program. Credit through AP is largely made possible by the evaluation and scoring process that reflects the high standards of AP Readers. This is just another example of the robust AP program at AMHS because of the high level of expertise needed to be selected!
Additionally, Roger Brodniak was just promoted to "Table Leader" for the 2024 AP U.S. Government and Politics Reading. He will be carefully supervising and mentoring eight National Readers at his "Table" to check for scoring accuracy. #MurphyPride

THROWBACK THURSDAY!
In early March, we initiated our inaugural Mental Health "Flex Day" alongside Mental Health awareness nights that were open to the community. During our Community Period, AMHS students had the opportunity to participate in a choice-based activity. They could attend two out of three seminars focusing on mental health, mental performance, or learning more about the practice of discernment in the Catholic tradition. These seminars were designed to foster growth in resistance skills, enhance understanding of stress and anxiety, and aid in difficult decision-making processes.
Leading these seminars were both national experts and our very own educators: Dr. Ashley Kuchar from @failbettertraining , Kevin Ashworth, MA LPC from @nw_anxiety_institute , and our dedicated Theology teachers Mrs. Romo, Deacon Angus, and Mrs. Hubbard. The participation of our students was enthusiastic, with a number of questions being answered and strategies explored. Moreover, at the community nights, we were thrilled to welcome families and groups from Snohomish and King County. It was a collective effort, and the turnout was truly special. Well done, Cats!
