Residential Life at Greenwood

Residential programming is where our boys develop friendships, have fun, and try new things.

Through our Activities of Daily Living program, we help them shift from needing external support to utilizing internal resources. Many of our students have challenges with processing speed challenges, working memory, and executive function. With each bed made and shirt put away, the boys take another step towards independence.

Dorm students receive daily living coaching in areas such as:

  • Getting out of bed on time

  • Maintaining personal hygiene

  • Wearing clean clothes daily

  • Keeping an orderly bedroom

  • Taking out laundry

  • Organizing homework

  • Taking responsibility

  • Managing impulsivity

  • Planning ahead

Our 100-acre campus, complete with a three-acre pond, provides an ideal setting for outdoor activities and adventures. From building kayaks and pressing apples in the woodshop to hiking and mountain biking, our students are constantly engaging with their surroundings and exploring new interests.

Greenwood’s kitchen staff prepare delicious meals with fresh and, whenever possible, organic food selections. One of the many benefits of being a small school is seen in the dining hall, where our chef weighs in on individual student requests and accomodates special dietary needs.

Greenwood has thoughtful, comprehensive residential life policies to help our students manage electronics, food, sleep, homework, chores, and more. These policies are designed to help build skills in time management, executive function, and independence.

“We know it can be hard to send your child to a school away from home, so we communicate about everything. We get and send emails daily about who is having a hard day, who aced something in class, what to try with a student struggling in a certain class or with a social dynamic. We live, eat, and breathe their well-being. We truly love them.”
