Whittle DC is now an IB World School!

We are thrilled to announce that the Washington, DC campus of Whittle School & Studios has been officially recognized as an IB World School offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

As an IB World School, we have received yet another recognition of our competence, talent, and potential as a new school. It reinforces our commitment to encouraging students to think critically while solving novel and complex problems, to drive their own learning and take ownership of it, to be culturally aware, to be internationally minded, to be challenged, to be able to engage actively with their world around them, and, as a consequence, to fully prepare them for life after high school.

Founding Families Benefit Program

Whittle School & Studios DC is pleased to announce the launch of a new benefit program for all families that enroll by September 1, 2021. This Founding Families Benefit program is a 3-year, need-blind tuition assistance program designed to ease the financial burdens that often accompany maintaining a private school education during uncontrollable events such as the pandemic.

Beginning in fall 2021, and for three full years thereafter, we are offering a blanket discount on full tuition for all grades.

Our Curriculum

Our approach is built upon an emerging canon of best practices pioneered by those who have come before us. They have taught us that a modern school knows that how one learns will outlast what one learns; believes that a global system of schools will surpass a single, local one; sees that an ingenious facility will enable lessons in design and the ability to drive the digital age; understands the emotional development of its students must also be given time; reconceptualizes the school day and year, recognizing that learning happens everywhere and all the time.

Experiential Learning

One day per week is set aside as an X-Day. Programmed by the faculty, the Expedition Day (X-Day) is reserved for experiential learning and work that cannot be contained in the regular schedule or even within the walls of the school.

Project-Based Learning

Our project-based learning (PBL) program is structured to confront major global challenges, meaning that the skills and interests that our learners develop will align with the needs of the world.

ADVISORY

The role of the Advisor is is nurturing the innate human desires to explore and learn. They actively help students learn to navigate in complex learning environments—from the physical context of early-age learning classrooms to the more abstract environments of their humanities courses.

CoLLEGE COUNSELING

Our approach to college counseling can be simply stated: knowing a student well is at the heart of good college counseling. It is a partnership between student, family, Advisor, and the College Counseling team.
